The Eastbourne Aquathlon will consist of a sea swim followed by a run along Eastbourne’s historic promenade. There will be various distances for children from age 8 upwards. The day will start with a 100m swim and 600m run for 8-year olds, followed by a series of races over increasing distances for older children. On Sunday there will be adult races over sprint distance (750m swim and 5km run) and a standard distance (1,500m swim and 10km run) running alongside the triathlon races.

Q: Will wetsuits be allowed/required?
A: This event will be run under BTF rules. Wetsuits are compulsory at water temperatures below 14°C, optional between 14°C - 22°C, and banned above 22°C. With water temperatures in June around 14°C - 16°C wetsuits could be compulsory.
TriStart (age 8) will run out along the prom for 300m and make a u-turn, returning to finish on the Western Lawns.
TriStar 1 (age 9-10) will run out along the prom for 750m and make a u-turn, returning to finish on the Western Lawns.
TriStar 2 (age 11-12) will run out along the prom for 1km and make a u-turn, returning to finish on the Western Lawns.
TriStar 3 (age 13-14) and Youth (age 15-16) will run out along the prom for 1.5km to the far end at Holywell. Here you will make a right turn up a short, steep hill before bearing right back downhill to return to the lower prom. You will then follow the prom returning to finish on the Western Lawns.
Sprint and Standard Aquathlons will follow the same run routes as the main Eastbourne TRiathlon.
