Mat Dowle

Mat Dowle completed his first triathlon in 2006 at the age of 29. Since then he has completed over 25 Ironman distance races and countless shorter distance events.

"Over the past 12 years I've completed many triathlons over all distances from sprint to Ironman. I've picked up some good results over the years and I've been on the GB Age Group Team at several World and European Championship events.

"I'm a bit of a perfectionist and I hope my commitment and attention to detail will result in an outstanding race experience for everyone involved in our events."

Dale Anderton

Local athlete Dale Anderton has been involved in triathlon and endurance sports for 40 years.

"I fell in love with triathlon and the endurance sport way of life in the 1980's whilst serving as a Royal Marine and doing my first sprint distance event. Since then l have competed in 100's of races across the globe at all distances including the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii."

Juliette Clark

Juliette has a wealth of experience in Endurance sport both as a competing athlete and as an organiser. She’s competed at Club and International level at Triathlon, Running & Cycling and has worked on events ranging in size from a local 10K trail run with 500 runners to London Marathon and 48,000 participants. She loves winter sea swimming with her friends at Holywell, spreadsheets, porridge and drinking coffee. Being local to Eastbourne, Juliette started volunteering at Eastbourne Triathlon in 2021 and has been a member of the core team ever since.

I have competed in numerous Ironman and other ultra distance running, cycling and swimming events over the last 38 years whilst working full time as a self employed Civil Engineer. Now retired, and a rusty competitor, it's been great over the past two years to be asked to be Race Controller for such a great team of fellow volunteers.

Steve has over 20 year’s experience of coaching swimming to all age groups and abilities, now coaches throughout all the squads at Team Bodyworks. MSc Sport Science at the University of Brighton, Steve worked as a Clinical Exercise Therapist in mental health services for 15 years and utilises this knowledge and experience to now support athletes with their physical and mental fitness.

Wayne Sturt

Wayne has been involved in event medicine for over 30 years and running his own company for 24 of those. He provides medical cover to events all over Sussex, Kent, Hampshire and beyond. As well as covering the TriBourne events Wayne also regularly provides medical cover to open water swimming, professional cycling, 5K, 10K and half marathons in both Winter and Summer giving him insight to the issues that can crop up in each discipline. His team are all ambulance staff working front line giving you the best care should injury arise.

Ben Hall is part of the Resilience Advisors Network and has 15 years of experience managing Water Events, Beach Lifeguard Teams and Medical Teams. Bens works with the Resilience Advisors Network includes delivering training within disaster management projects around the EU. He has been in charge of the Swim Safety for Eastbourne Triathlon & IronBourne since they begun. A keen beach goer himself, you will often find Ben trying to look brave whilst walking on the shingle with no shoes on.

Nick is from OMotos (www.omotos.co.uk) will provide safety marshals on motorbikes patrolling the bike course, all their Triathlon England Motorcyclists are first aid trained and hold an advanced rider qualification offering exceptional first person on scene medical attention, enabling an athlete to be attended to within minutes. The OMotos team is highly experienced and have all been handpicked for their outstanding individual talents and attributes.

Winter and Watson are dynamic duo behind all things mechanical at Cycleshack Eastbourne. With a passion for cycling ingrained in their DNA, they bring a wealth of experience to the tri community.

Both seasoned bike mechanics, they have not only mastered the art of fixing bikes but between them have also conquered various events, including the Celtman XTri, Pan Celtic ultra bike packing race, Beachy Head marathon as well as various Time Trials, and mountain bike races.

Our amazing race announcer will call out your name as ouy cross the finish line. In the summer of 2019, just weeks after being crowned European Triathlon Champion, Claire collided with a tractor whilst out training. In an instant her future was transformed from professional triathlete to life in a wheelchair. She survived devastating injuries and shows incredible determination and commitment as she trains for the Paralympics as a member of the British Cycling team.

More recently Matt has joined the junior coaching team at Team Bodyworks and Beachy Head Cycling Club so he can help develop and support younger athletes who are new to the sport. Brighton Surf Life Saving Club was formed in 1957 making it one of the oldest Surf Life Saving clubs in the UK. Its primary focus is on training children and young people to become lifeguards with members starting as young as 8-years-old. The clubs adult membership covers many local events where there is a need for experienced water safety teams. The club inshore rescue boat (IRB) section is particularly active in this aspect regularly being tasked to assist around the UK.

Jo and Paul Aston are the clinic directors and Specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapists at Sportswise in Eastbourne. They lead a multidisciplinary team of consultants in Sport and Exercise Medicine and Musculoskeletal Medicine, Physiotherapists, Massage Therapists and a Dietician specialising in sports injuries and musculoskeletal disorders.

Sportswise is proud to have supported TriBourne with post event massage since 2018 and we very much look forward to helping those competing this summer.

Danny Garbett heads up Run Wednesdays who staff one of the three Aid Stations at IronBourne. RW are a friendly local running club in Eastbourne who meet for their main session every Wednesday evening at 7pm at various locations.
